Introduction
Deterioration of indoor air pollution is one of the rising issues in both developed and developing countries. There has been great concern about the potential health hazards of PM2.5 (PM smaller than 2.5 µm with a diameter), formaldehyde, and TVOC (total volatile organic compound) recently. However, the traditional education methods just emphasize the knowledge transformation from teacher to students. Students only can learn the concepts and rules of the indoor air pollution from textbooks, which is not suitable anymore for current social development. In recent decades, STEM education which integrates Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics together has been considered as one effective way to make student learning more connected and relevant. The development of STEM education can enable students to continuously understand new things, explore and understand new science, technology, engineering and math knowledge, new methods, new thinking, and improve innovation ability in the learning process. Thus, in here, we produce an STEM education kit on IAQ for primary and secondary schools. The education kit covers the following items: (a) the basic introduction of indoor air quality (IAQ) with some instruments manuals and worksheets (Science); (b) air pollution data recording and analyzing in different indoor environment (Mathematics), (c) online videos, quiz and forum are available for students to study (Technology); (d) the fitting and use of the air detector are also provided through the 3D technology (Engineer).
